ABOUT US

Location and Site

The site is furnished to the highest of standards and has been developed to provide an Outstanding 23-bed specialist nursing care home comprising of 18 standard en-suite bedrooms and 5 integrated Recovery Flats equipped with full kitchen facilities and providing realistic independent living areas yet in the safe environment of 24 hour nurse-led provision. 

 

Specialist 24-Hour Nurse Led, Therapy Driven Service with highly skilled rehabilitation and activity staff supporting residents to develop their living skills, manage their mental and physical health while building a routine, with the goal of more independent and meaningful living.

Thistle Hill Hall contains three communal lounges, a dining room, activities room and a fully equipped modern gym.

The Service is currently completing work on our Learning Zone which will provide a dedicated area to facilitate supporting education for service users, staff and family.

A Restorative Suite is due to be commissioned and will provide both an area to access complimentary therapies such as massage, aromatherapy and wax baths in addition to a quiet yet homely zone to entertain visitors away from the main building if desired.

The buildings are set within extensive grounds locates at outskirts of Mansfield Town Centre - accessible by a 20-minute walk and 10 minutes walk from Mansfield-Woodhouse train  station.

 

Onsite Facilities

Thistle Hill Hall has its own kitchenette and laundry to support and empower independence. There is also a separate training kitchen allowing 1:1 and group cooking sessions. Onsite, there is a fully-equipped gym and a comprehensive Art Room.  A Learning Zone and a Restorative Suite incorporating a visitors zone away from the main building are in the process of being completed.

Recovery Flats

Our integrated Recovery Flats allow residents to be as independent as possible yet with the safety net of 24 Hour Nursing Support, prior to discharge to back to community an meaningful and inclusive life.

We provide this service within a facility of exceptional quality and with the highest standards.

Our experienced multidisciplinary team endeavours to offer effective care planning, risk assessments and treatment for individuals, based on their needs, whilst reflecting dignity and choice.

TONY THOMPSON

MA F.Ins LM BEd(Hon) RMN RNLD DN(Lord) Cert Ed. RNT

 

Tony is a director of the non-profit company Bridge R&D, a Lead Investigator for Caring Solutions UK Ltd. He is an author and editor of key text books and is a visiting Mental Health Act Manager at a number of hospitals. A former professional advisor and Inspector for the GNC, he is also involved with international R&D in Health and Social Care.

Meet the Team

DAVID MORRISON

PhD ClinPsyD PGCE MA(Hons. 1st)

David is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years’ experience caring for people presenting with problems relating to their mental health, learning disability, past trauma and autism spectrum disorder. He has worked within rehabilitation and secure service NHS settings for 16 years', and within voluntary and independent sectors for over 10 years.

Thistle Hill Hall is a unique private and specialist Nursing  home which provides hospital-equivalent care in a community based setting. Thistle Hill Hall has an experienced Multidisciplinary Team which is a key asset in the delivery of its quality service. The team comprises professionals with extensive experience of working with individuals with severe mental illness, learning disabilities and neuro-developmental disorders, who may have associated secondary disabilities such as forensic histories and substance misuse.

 

The MDT is comprised of the members shown here along with Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN) ,Registered Learning Disability Nurses (RNLD), Occupational Therapist and General Nurse (RNA).
